'America's Next Top Model' all about Tyra

"AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL"

The 90-minute premiere of the 14th (!) season is simply titled "Be My Friend, Tyra!" And that's what this competition has come down to, in my opinion. It's all about getting to know Tyra Banks, who can incorporate young girls into her media empire. After so many seasons, the winners seem to get lost in the abyss of reality-show winners. I couldn't tell you any of the past winners or identify them in a Cover Girl ad. Still, the show remains a staple of the CW network and has been renewed for two more seasons next year. (That would be 16 seasons, for those counting at home.) For those who still tune in for the high fashion and high drama, here are a few things to note: J. Alexander, known as runway coach "Miss J," is out as a judge. Miss J has been a fixture in the "Top Model" family, so it will be strange not seeing him to the right of Tyra. Instead, Andre Leon Talley, a huge fashion industry vet and Anna Wintour's right-hand man at Vogue, will have a seat at the judges' table. Tonight, 33 semi-finalists will compete to be in the Top 13. And they are shocked - shocked - to learn from blogger Perez Hilton that they have to undergo a makeover. (Haven't these girls watched the show before?) 8 p.m. CW

"FIRST LOVE, SECOND CHANCE"

It's the kind of story tailor-made for a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie. A couple, torn apart by circumstances or transgressions, gets a chance to reunite years later. Are those romantic feelings still there? Or will this reunion simply provide closure as they move on with their lives? That's the premise of this new reality series. Couples will meet for a week to sort through these emotions. In some cases, it has been more than 20 years since they have seen each other. For those who wonder "what if?" you may be intrigued. 10 p.m. TV Land

"THE EARLY SHOW"

Katie Couric has brought her colon cancer advocacy to CBS. Co-anchor Harry Smith will have a colonoscopy on air today - live. Couric memorably had her own procedure - taped - on "Today" in 2000. 7 a.m.
