The Buzz: War crime trial's starring roles
There are some celebrity feuds that you never see coming. That's the case with model Naomi Campbell versus actress/activist Mia Farrow (top left) and Wyclef Jean (bottom left) versus Sean Penn. Here's the scoop on each as told by People magazine.
Farrow testified in the war-crimes trial of former Liberian president Charles Taylor that Campbell lied during her sworn testimony earlier this month over whether Taylor gave Campbell so-called "blood diamonds." Campbell told the court earlier this month she didn't know the diamonds were linked to Taylor. But Farrow testified Monday that Campbell admitted to her that the diamonds were from Taylor.
In other celebrity feud news, Oscar-winning actor Penn has "voiced his concerns" about Jean's qualifications to run as president of earthquake-torn Haiti. "This is somebody who's going to receive an enormous amount of support from the United States, and I have to say I'm very suspicious of it," said Penn, who has been helping with relief efforts in Haiti.
Jean fired back by saying, "Sean Penn must understand that besides what he sees in Haiti, there are 4 million diasporas living outside of Haiti that is actually the commerce . that's bringing $2 billion per year (for the country). And guess what? I am part of that community also."
More bad news for Wyclef Jean as he runs for president of Haiti. Pras Michel, one of his former bandmates from The Fugees, criticized Jean's bid to become president by saying the singer is not qualified for the office, according to BBC News.
Michel has endorsed Jean's rival Michel Martelly instead. "I'm here in the belly of Haiti, I endorse Michel Martelly as the next president of Haiti," Michel wrote on his Twitter page.
